The Gaming Giant Hires Apex Legends Lead to Boost Troubled Action Game Project Ethos

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Management Transition Follows Poor Response

The new appointee assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last fall.

Recently, 2K president a key figure notified employees about this decision through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a distinct direction.

The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet community desires.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

The news follows a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Here is the entire message from Ismailer's communication:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the positive developments. Last time I shared you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and creative designers we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re excited for that relationship to continue.”

Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the need for a more distinct vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its potential to our audience.

The trust in this project grows every day. To boost the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the new Lead of the team. Following several months of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on next week.

His management and experience in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the past decade and a half developing and managing some of the most popular franchises in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all excited to continue seeing the development of the game in the time to come.
